Okay, as a graphic designer I always have a thousand projects that I'm either working on or floating around in my head. And every graphic designer at some point has thought about creating their own clothing/tee-shirt company. Of course I am no exception, I've wanted to screen print my own shirts ever since high-school when I made my first tee shirt (it was a silly cartoon character).
But I've been reluctant to actually start a real clothing company simply because everyone is doing it, I didn't want to just do it to do it, I wanted it to have a real
purpose as well as really unique designs. Well I think I
finally have that purpose and the designs to back it up.
For the last year or so it's been on my heart to develop a different type of clothing brand, not another "grungy distressed looking brand with random skulls on it," but a brand with a unique look as well as a positive message. I came up with Cross Your Heart. I love the old saying "cross your heart, hope to die" ... Wait, I'm not being morbid, let me explain. As a Christian I have "crossed my heart" accepting the sacrifice on the cross He washed my heart white as snow. Then I "hope to die," die to Self, die to my flesh, because it's not about me it's about Him. I'm a selfish sinner and the only way to have a relationship with Jesus is to Die to Self.
That being said, yesterday I launched the first phase of Cross Your Heart Clothing (
www.crossyourheartclothing.com). But not only did I want to create positive clothing designs, but I'm also going to give 50% of proceeds to ministries and various charities. After all God gave me the talent and passion for art, so really it's His money and His clothing line.
Now I haven't ironed out all the details yet, and I'm working on getting an inventory and an online store. But if you like this idea please visit the site and email me to show your support. Ask for the kick-off brand shirt and you'll be first on the list when I get them finished.
www.crossyourheartclothing.comfeel free to spread the word, I know God is going to use this in a great way.
God Bless you all,
-Chris
